Artists on Fire; Getting to know Andria B Langston
In this highlight we turn our attention to Andria B Langston, a trailblazing artist and black business owner making an impact within her community. I asked Andria a series of questions, here are her responses;
Tell us a little about yourself, where you’re from, where you grew up, what H.S./College you attended etc.
Hi, I’m Andria! Born & raised in Rochester, NY. (585 stand up!!) I went to Temple University in Philly for undergrad and USC ✌🏾in LA for grad school.
What inspired you to be an Actress? What inspired you to become a Media Owner? Early experiences worth sharing?
I was raised in radio. My grandfather started WDKX Radio in 1974. I began working at the station learning various duties to run the business at an early age. When I wasn’t at work with my family I was participating in every theatrical production I could find since the age of 5. My mom used to take me to see plays all the time too when I was a kid. Every show made my love for theater, storytelling, and acting run a little deeper. Something about those lights just transport you to a whole other world. Being on stage or on camera ignites a fire that I’ve never felt anywhere else.
Is there a time where you have faced adversity/conflict and have triumphed?
It can often get frustrating audition after audition not hearing anything back; while juggling a million duties you can feel burnt out. You may start doubting yourself asking, “Is this really my purpose?” but you have to pull yourself away from those negative thoughts and pour into yourself. Practice affirmations, meditation, reading is super important, and getting out in nature to just recharge and reset. You have to truly believe in yourself & know that God put you on this specific path for a purpose, don’t ever doubt it.
What do you believe sets you apart from other artists and Media Owners?
My heart. I move with integrity and love. I’m continuously grateful that everyday I’m able to do what I’m passionate about while making a difference in the community.
Do you have any other interests or hobbies?
I love to write (short stories, screenplays, and poetry), paint, collage, play the piano/guitar, yoga and I just started learning a form of bojutsu.
Any projects being released in the near future that we should keep our eyes out for?
Welcome Matt on May 28th
Where would you like to see yourself 5 years from now?
Producing, writing, directing, and acting in my own projects that inspire millions through unique storytelling.
What advice can you give to aspiring artists/entertainers?
Do the work. Don’t stop.
What advice can you give to "Up and Coming" entrepreneurs?
Have a clear vision. Don’t stop.
Are there any quotes that you would like to share, that you believe would resonate with up and coming artists and entrepreneurs?
Live the life you’ve always dreamed of. Be fearless in the face of adversity. Never stop learning. Use your imagination whenever possible. Recognize the beauty around you. Remember where you came from, but never lose sight of where you are going. Don’t take yourself too seriously & have fun!
