Getting to know Jon Cesar; A masterful entertainer building an exceptional legacy within the entertainment industry
In this highlight, we turn our attention to an exceptional entertainer by the name of Jon Cesar. Jon Cesar is an American actor/comedian born and raised in Buffalo New York. He has studied at Broadcasting college in Orange County, CA, Jon has also participated in many media workshops as well, just to name a few. I asked Jon a series of questions, here is what we discussed;
What inspired you to be an model? Early experiences worth sharing?
What inspired me to become an artist and Entertainer on TV and movies was my babysitter. I would always look for the one black child actor. Seeing someone on T.V. that looked like me, made me feel that I can get to do the same thing someday.
Talk about a time where you have faced adversity/conflict and have triumphed.
The time that I had faced adversity/conflict and how I triumphed was the time I met Tracy Morgan..
I was separated, living in Canada at the time. The wife had just kicked me out, I had no money, it was the dead of winter and all I had was a $1 to get a hamburger. Some friends of mine were opening for Tracy Morgan that night, so I went to the show to go see my friends and hopefully meet Tracy Morgan. I didn’t have any money and had to jump the Subway to get there. To make matters worse, I had no money to even get into the show. I tried to reach my friend who was inside, but could not reach him. I then snuck out the back door as people started to show up around me and they thought I was Tracy Morgan. I was filling out autographs and taking pictures with friends who had originally came out to the back of the venue. A friend of mine came outside, looked at me and was like.. “Yo Tracy wants to meet you.” I died. Everything else went black lol.
What do you believe sets you apart from other actors/comedians?
What sets me apart from others artists and entertainers is that I had my own sacrifices. It affected me differently than it would affected other people I feel. What sets me apart is the time I spent in Prague. I had just made it up to myself right then and there to go and was in Prague shortly after.
Do you have other interests or hobbies?
My other interests are, (but not limited to) radio, video mashup, cooking and working with kids animation.
Any projects you have out or or currently working on?
I have a couple re-occuring roles on the award winning web series Dark Justice Show (www.darkjusticeshow.com) and I do some hosting on the Griot Nation Radio Show (syndicated).
Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years?
I see my self in 5 years producing shows.. that means for me that I’ll have more control and creative input!
What advice can you give to aspiring actors/comedians?
My advice for the youth is, “know thy self before doing anything.”
