Getting to know Kyle Ramone Lewis a.k.a. Turb Skee, an innovative and exceptional comedian/entertainer shaking thinks up within the Industry
In this highlight we turn our attention to Kyle Ramone Lewis known to many as Turb Skee. Recently a winner of the 2019 Roc Awards for Sketch Comedy of the Year in the city of Rochester, N.Y., Turb proves time and time again that he is someone you should keep an eye out for. I asked Turb Skee a series of questions, here is what we discussed:
Tell us a little about yourself, where your from, grew up, what H.S./College you attended, etc.
Well my name is “Turbo” Kyle Ramone Lewis (birth given name) better known as Turb Skee. Im from a unknown but popular city where great talented, innovative, creative, inspiring individuals are bred, Rochester, New York. 585 stand up YUUURRRRRRR lol. I attended Edison Tech for high school then attended Laurinburg Prep in North Carolina for basketball. I had a few basketball scholarships and attended a couple different colleges, but things didn’t go as planned and I ended up landing myself in some trouble early on. Everything happens for a reason, I am a firm believer in that because if I would of went a different route I wouldn’t be able to do this bomb a** interview with you today, LOL. So with that being said I am very grateful for the trial and errors in my life because it actually turned me into a better person. Mentally, Physically, Emotionally, and spiritually, not financially yet but I’m at peace, so thats all the wealth I can ask for at the moment. Also I have 3 handsome boys Kymere, Kaeson, Karter and two goddaughters Vega and Haidyn and one god son August.
What inspired you to be an entertainer? Early experiences worth sharing?
What inspires me to be an entertainer?
My biggest inspiration is my children, actually my oldest son Kymere RaShawn Lewis (one of the dopest people and one of the greatest friends I can ever have) is the reason why I became a entertainer, he started doing his own sketches and skits at 4 or 5 and he’s 11 now. I wish you can hear my voice when I tell you this because the kid is amazing at what he does I’m just trying to match his energy and skill. I try not to put too much pressure on him because I want him to remain a kid and live his life he’s already a star but I don’t want him to become one of those kid stars who gets ruined by “ The Hollywood Lifestyle”. Also I do what I do because world we live in seems to be doomed, when I say doomed I mean in the sense of the hatred, corruption, depression, Stress, the overall drug frenzy. So through laughter we all can come together slowly but surely and enjoy something together. My thing is I promote fitness and laughs, through fitness I can motivate and inspire through laughter I can bring peace, joy, and happiness.
Talk about a time where you have faced adversity/conflict and have triumphed.
Im faced with adversity everyday, conflict, as well as triumphed. People who really know me know I was heavy in the streets growing up and was always into some mess smh. I can give stories about this about that but my biggest adversity in life was the transformation in my life. I had/have to fight and battle daily within myself having a negative background and then all of a sudden, waking up telling and forcing yourself to want to do and live better. I’ve been clean and sober at this moment for 849 days. Thats 2 years 3 months 3 weeks and 6 days. My biggest and greatest battle is with myself on a daily basis, I fight myself to be greater, to be better, to improve, to inspire, to love, and to bring joy to people who don’t even understand this side of peacefulness. I decided to go cold turkey one day and the crazy part is people just see the aftermath they don’t know I had to workout and do skits to beat the withdrawals. I was in the room every night looking like Jamie Foxx in “Ray” and shit lol. I didn’t smoke crack or do heroine or nothing like that, but that doesn’t make me any better than anybody else with addictions.
What do you believe sets you apart from other entertainers?
Nothing I do that sets me apart from others simply because I don’t look at this as a competition or anything and I wanna see any and everybody who deserves it, to make it out in the world. I can say I’m different because I am a true entertainer and a well rounded one, I can make anybody look and feel comfortable on camera also I have unlimited characters. My main character right now is my dawg “Papa Trick” he’s a sugar daddy aka the BIG TRICK LOL. He is a rapper that has a hit single out called Trickin Trickin. You can download that joint on all music media outlets. Not too many people can pull off acts as different people. Also once I lock into a character there is no turning back until the day is over lol people find it creepy but its all about passion and being locked in.
Do you have other interests or hobbies?
My other interest and hobbies I read daily, Im working towards my business and brands, I’m studying to be a life coach, I’m a personal trainer as well as a fitness model. I write music, skits, and plays.
Any projects you have out or or currently working on?
Im currently working on my movie with film director and photographer Chris Cardwell for my Character “Papa Trick” I’m also in his movie that is being premiered in the spring of 2019. I’m also working on Papa Trick mixtape trying to get this off the ground, like I mentioned before his single is on all media outlets. Im writing a web series as well called “ Old creeps playing for keeps” Lol its about the sugar daddies that want more than just a Sugar daddy status.
Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years?
Where do I seen myself in 5 years? I see myself being on the main screen with my own production company and well known in the movie/music industry. I want to work with a major company like New Line or Universal, RCA, Paramount, Even Happy Madison lol I’m gonna make my way. I don’t just wanna be the next internet sensation. Im working to gain great success with endorsement deals, doing commercials, shit I’m even trying to get in contact with Nick Cannon so we can work together on some projects maybe even get featured on Wildin’ Out.
What advice can you give to aspiring artists/entertainers?
In this life not even industry in life stay humble, learn patiences, success doesn’t happen overnight even tho it may look like it. Stay humble, Stay prayed up, and positive. Work on your craft daily, stay consistent and never give up on you goals or dreams. And don’t pay attention to the haters or comments just focus on the ones who support you and are there for you.
