In this highlight we turn our attention Quentin Gause, Linebacker for the NFL’s Denver Broncos. I asked Quentin a series of questions, here is what we discussed;

Tell us a little about yourself, where your from, grew up, what H.S./College you attended etc.

I’m a 2011 Bishop Kearney high school graduate, a 2015 Rutgers University Graduate and a football team captain. On the gridiron, I put blood, sweat, and tears into my training. I have gasped for air from running long distances; I have trained my arms and legs, lifting and squatting to increase my strength. That hard work lead me to the achievement of becoming one of the nation’s top high school football players in the class of 2011. Participating in several combines and camps earned me eight full scholarship offers to Duke University, Rutgers University, University of Louisville, University of Buffalo, Syracuse University, University of Akron, University of Miami, and the University of Connecticut. However, I knew could not become complacent.

I went on to attend Rutgers University and had a successful football and academic career. I was privileged to be named a semifinalist for the Campbell Award recognizing the best football scholar-athlete in the nation.

After my studies at Rutgers were over, I earned a degree in Journalism and media studies. From there I enter the NFL Draft. Quentin had more than 223 tackles which got him recognized on a professional level. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft.

Despite a strong pre-season, Gause was released by the Eagles just before the start of the regular season. Gause never gave up; he was quickly added to the New England Patriots practice squad where he spent the first five weeks of the 2016 NFL season. Although he was knocked down, he remembered a lesson that he learned during his time at Bishop Kearney; even if he got knocked down nine times, he would still always stand up ten. After week six he was signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad. After demonstrating he was ready for the opportunity, the Broncos moved Gause to the 53 men active roster for the final four weeks of the season.

What inspired you to get into football? Early experiences worth sharing?

My Dad inspired and I use to watch him play when I was young on a Semi-pro team called the Rochester Warriors.

Talk about a time where you have faced adversity/conflict and have triumphed.

I was not drafted but I was picked up as a free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Keeping the lesson of never being complacent helped me maneuver the ever-changing nature of being a free agent. My first year in the NFL I bounced from team to team and admittedly, it was rough. But having faith in God, trusting him to guide my path has allowed me to be blessed with more opportunities.
