In this highlight we turn our attention to Kidert Jean-Mary, an up and coming actor forging his own path within the acting community. I asked Kidert a series of questions, here is what we discussed:

Tell us a little about yourself, where your from, grew up, what H.S./College you attended, etc.

Hi, I’m Kidert (Kid-air). Kid for short. I’m from Shaolin, NYC and it is where I grew up. I went to Mckee high school for automotive maintenance and I graduated in 2013.

What inspired you to be an artist? Early experiences worth sharing?

What inspired me to be an actor was Spiderman believe it or not. I’ve always wanted to be Spiderman, and since Marvel came out with Miles Morales who better to play him than me? I know for sure I’ll be a great fit for his Character.

Talk about a time where you have faced adversity/conflict and have triumphed.

Growing up in a single-parent household is difficult on both parents and kids. It is understandable for parents to want their kids to succeed in order for them not to make the same mistakes. But living with a parent that was a cop was difficult. They’re so used to people taking their orders without question. So it was like “this it what you’re going to be,“ not “who do you want to be?“ If I continued down that path I wouldn’t have been happy. Acting makes me happy, so I’m going to pursue it.

What do you believe sets you apart from other artists?

What sets me apart from other actors is my real world experiences. I’ve raced cars, I’ve shot weapons, I’ve been in chem suits detecting different agents. So it is easy for me to adapt to most scenes because I’ve been in it before.

Do you have other interests or hobbies?

I have many hobbies actually, my top two are cars and video games. If you check out my YouTube channel “Just sKIDDing“ you’ll see that I’ve just finished building my 91 Nissan 240SX drift car! I also play basketball in leagues in Shaolin to stay in shape!

Any projects you have out or or currently working on?

My 240SX is my main project but, I’ve also been trying to finish writing a movie idea that I’ve had for a while now. I would like to make it as detailed as possible so everyone can understand. Of course it’s about cars, and probably the most car related movie since Need for Speed back in 2014.

Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years?

This is always a great question, in five years continuing my acting career I see myself as the actor who plays Miles Morales in the MCU. Success is eminent and I am willing to work hard for it.

What advice can you give to aspiring artists/entertainers?

My advice to anyone trying to pursue anything is consistency and dedication will take you a long way. Consistency and dedication also proves that you are reliable. Never quit the things that you love doing.

How can we follow along in your journey? Social media?

You can follow my journey through Instagram Kid_Shaolin or YouTube “just sKIDDing.” Don’t be afraid to ask me questions or email me if you have any other opportunities.
