Introducing Nick Zibro, A Talented, Hardworking And Positive Individual In The Entertainment Industry
In this highlight we turn our attention to Nick Zibro, a gifted actor and recognizable model, making a positive and inspirational impact in the industry. I was fortuante enough to ask Nick a series of questions, here is what we discussed:
Tell us a little about yourself, where your from, grew up, what H.S./College you attended, etc.
I was born in the year of 1991, in Troy, NY. My parents split at the age of 4, my mom moved to Half-moon/Clifton Park,New York. Clifton Park is where I ended up growing up. I went to grade school at Shenendehowa and graduated high school in the year of 2010.
Then I went to College at Hudson Valley community college..That is when my interest in acting started to take over. So I took some theater classes and participated in a couple of school plays. I decided to take an opportunity to work as a model and take a break from school. So I moved to New York for my first time around 2012. It was rough, There was not much progress, and I had a tough time with staying a float. So I went back home to finish up my two year degree and spend time with family… I graduated from Adirondack Community College with a Liberal Arts Degree. Then I realized that I still had a burning passion and felt like I was selling myself short.. So I decided to give another leap of faith and give the city another shot. I couldn’t resist. I needed to break out of my comfort zone and grow.
What inspired you to be an artist? Early experiences worth sharing?
I really wish I could give a straight up answer on what really inspired me because I feel like It was a lot of things. The art itself.. I had a lot of support from my mom, and my friends who were also pursuing their endeavors in the entertainment business. I just loved how acting opened me up as a person. Being able to learn more about myself and connect with my colleagues. The by the book life wasn’t for me…I wanted an adventure.
Talk about a time where you have faced adversity/conflict and have triumphed.
So I moved down to the city once again, with pretty much nothing, maybe a thousand bucks to my name and stayed with a couple of friends for a few months. It wasn’t easy but I did it! Hustle, Hustle, non-stop work. I was bar-tending and catering every chance I could get. I also would work as a doorman in high fashion stores on Madison avenue. Talking about brainless work.. So brutal. But hey you gotta pay the bills! Once I started to get on my feet and settle, I started modeling again, which has been super beneficial to helping me make ends meet.
What do you believe sets you apart from other artists?
It has been a humbling journey for me. I have grown a lot as a person. I am not just an actor or a model. I do not like to put a label on who I am because I am still figuring that out. Ive grown to become more spiritual and more conscious about my own spirit. Acting has opened a pathway to that, because as an actor you have to be the master of yourself, and keep learning about yourself. You have to learn how to break free from your insecurities, and open up. That is something I feel that everyone should do because it is healing and it will make you a happier person. I do not care to be rich or famous because that is not what it is about to me because everything that really matters comes from with in. I think that as I become older and wiser the more and more I appreciate my private life. But if I were to blow up and make all of this money I would want to do something good for the world and the people. I am who I am and that is what makes me different from most actors.
Do you have any other interests or hobbies?
As for hobbies, I love to exercise, play guitar, be in nature, and spend time with my loved ones. I love to learn.
Any projects you have out or are currently working on?
As for current projects.. My first feature film to ever be a part of has finally been released. It is called “The Red Good Night” by John Koch. We were blessed and managed to get accepted into the Montana International Film Festival which was super exciting. We are currently working on a plan to have multiple local screenings, so stay tuned!
Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years?
A lot can happen in 5 years because I am a go with the flow kind of person. Things change and so do I. But I would like to be living somewhere warm and beautiful, or even being able to have the option to be bi-coastal. I would like to see myself happy, with genuine people in my life.
What advice can you give to aspiring artists/entertainers?
My advice to artist and entertainers is to stay true to who you are, and do not forget where you come from. Entitlement is poisonous and a road to an empty life. Stay spiritual and if you aren’t, learn. Don’t sell your soul.
